Defenders of Wildlife give Rep. Engel 100% Rating

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Eliot Engel, a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, received a 100 percent score for his commitment to environmental issues from the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund on their 2013 Conservation Report Card.

"Our ecosystem is in serious trouble. Superstorm Sandy gave my constituents a sample of what's to come unless we become better stewards of the environment. Protecting our environment should be a top priority, not an after-thought, and conservation is a key component."

“As a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I have stood firm against recent attempts by House Republicans to undermine our environmental laws. The majority has led an assault on our environment by voting to increase logging in national forests, expand oil exploration on public lands, and gutting funding for private land conservation."

“My voting records show that I am committed to protecting the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, limiting oil and gas exploration on public lands, and enforcing our environmental laws. I am pleased to receive a 100 percent rating the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund.”
