November Continues Strong Economic Trend for Country

Rep. Engel: November Continues Strong Economic Trend for Country

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Eliot Engel, a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, says the November jobs report proves the sustained strength of the U.S. economy to grow and create jobs, but he repeated his call for higher wages for working families.

“Americans have reaped the benefits of the 2.3 million new jobs created over the past 69 straight months of uninterrupted private sector job growth. Our economy is strong and growing, and these positive trends should continue barring the implementation of more Republican austerity,” Congressman Engel said.

The monthly jobs report showed the economy exceeded forecasts to add 211,000 new jobs in November, with the unemployment rate holding at 5.0%.  The Department of Labor also revised job creation numbers from September and October upward by 26,000. This is the 64th straight month of continued job growth, with unemployment reaching a seven and a half year low.
