Rep. Engel Announces $4.7 Million in HUD Grants

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Eliot Engel announced four U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants for three municipalities within Westchester County, totaling $4,681,167, to improve or develop public housing options for low-income families, the elderly and people with disabilities.

The grants will be made available through HUD’s Public and Indian Housing Capital Fund Program. The breakdown is as follows:

•             New Rochelle Public Housing Authority: $673,616

•             Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers: $709,715 and $3,149,102

•             Tuckahoe Housing Authority $148,434

“Housing is a vital need. The ability to fix and repair our existing public housing facilities helps improve our neighborhoods and the quality of life for people who live there. These grants make that possible and will go a long ways towards increasing decent housing options for residents who lack access to safe, affordable housing. I am pleased that HUD selected three communities in my District to receive funding.”
