Rep. Engel: Obamacare Works for New Yorkers

The New York State Department of Health says over a half-a-million New Yorkers have signed up for health coverage through the exchange, and 70 percent of enrollees were previously uninsured.

“The Affordable Care Act is clearly benefitting uninsured New Yorkers. Nationwide, 4 million Americans have signed up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, which points to the strength of President Obama’s landmark legislation,” said Congressman Eliot Engel, a senior member of the House Subcommittee on Health.

“Unfortunately, Republicans have voted an astonishing 49 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act. It’s time to stop playing politics with healthcare. We need to work together to strengthen the law so that even more Americans have access to quality, cost-efficient health care.”

New York is on track to meet or exceed its enrollment goal of 1.1 million people by the end of 2016.
