Engel Announces VA Grant Funding to Westhab Inc. in Yonkers

Westchester, NY—Congressman Eliot Engel, a top member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today announced the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded grant funding to Westhab Inc. in Yonkers to support programming for homeless veterans.

The funding will support 12 new beds at Westhab Inc. for homeless veterans, and will help provide for supportive care services to the veteran population.

“Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country. The least a grateful nation can do, when they return to their communities, is help take care of them,” Congressman Engel said. “This federal grant money, from the VA, will help bring vital services to our veterans in Yonkers, many of whom have fallen on hard times since leaving the service. We need to do more to help them, and I will continue working with my House colleagues to obtain increased funding for the VA to preserve and expand these vital services.”
