ENGEL APPLAUDS ROBERTA JACOBSON CONFIRMATION AS US AMBASSADOR TO MEXICO

WASHINGTON—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today released the following statement on the confirmation of Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson as United States Ambassador to Mexico:

“I congratulate my good friend Roberta Jacobson on her confirmation as United States Ambassador to Mexico tonight.  At a time when the United States faces threats from all over the world, lawmakers must work to deepen our security and economic partnerships with Mexico.  I applaud my Senate colleagues for finally moving forward with Roberta’s confirmation.  There is no one more qualified than Roberta to serve as our top diplomat in Mexico, who will strengthen this important bilateral relationship and maintain our security.  Roberta’s service is desperately needed, and I look forward to working with her closely to maintain our nation’s strategic partnership with Mexico.”
