Engel Congratulates Hastings High School on Being Named 2017 National Blue Ribbon School

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Eliot Engel, a top member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today congratulated Hastings High School for being named a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School by the National Department of Education. The school was recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School” based on its academic excellence and student achievement.

“This is a great honor for Hastings High School and speaks to the unwavering dedication of its teachers, faculty, and students,” Congressman Engel said. “Before winning elected office I was a classroom teacher and guidance counselor, so when a school in my district receives an honor like this I am particularly heartened. Being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School is quite an accomplishment, and everyone at Hastings High School should be very proud of their effort and hard work. My congratulations to Principal Adipietro, his team, and all of the wonderful students who make this school exemplary.”

“I am so proud of our entire school community and this award further validates the incredible work of our teachers, staff and students,” said Principal Louis A. Adipietro. “The culture that we have created at Hastings High School is inclusive and encourages individual expression. It is an honor to serve as principal of Hastings High School.”

According to the U.S Department of Education, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
