Engel Receives 100+ Score from Humane Society

Washington D.C. – Congressman Eliot L. Engel, a member of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, received a ‘100+’ on the Humane Society’s 2018 Preview Scorecard for his perfect voting record supporting animal rights. The score includes his work on a range of issues from protecting horses from slaughter to shark fin trade, and increase funding for the Animal Welfare Act. The “plus” distinction signifies the Congressman’s leadership on animal welfare issues.

“As a member of the Animal Protection Caucus, I am proud to once again earn an ‘100+’ rating from the Humane Society,” Engel said. “I have always loved animals, and as a Member of Congress I work hard to advocate for their safety and well-being. This strong recognition from the Humane Society, one of our nation’s top animal rights organizations, speaks to my work and commitment on their behalf.”

The Humane Society Legislative Fund Humane Scorecard accounts for significant votes, cosponsoring critical pro-animal rights legislation, and advocacy for suitable funding to enforce animal welfare laws. The final scorecard will be released at a later date.
