Engel Statement on Attack in Afghanistan

BRONX—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement:

“I fiercely condemn yet another Taliban attack, this time detonating an ambulance packed with explosives in Kabul. I’m appalled by the murders of nearly 100 Afghan men, women, and children—and likely more—and my heart goes out to their loved ones and all others affected by this brutal attack. Those killed today were Afghans seeking to live their lives as best as they could in a country where war has sadly become a part of everyday life. It doesn’t have to be this way. I urge the Trump Administration to move beyond the words of its so-called South Asia strategy, and clearly articulate how it’s going to put this strategy in place to help bring the fighting in Afghanistan to an end.”
