Engel Statement on Recent Acts of Anti-Semitism in America

Engel Statement on Recent Acts of Anti-Semitism in America

Washington, D.C.– Congressman Eliot Engel issued the following statement:

“From a horrific attack on peaceful worshipers at a synagogue to a hurtful cartoon in the New York Times, this weekend was a stunning demonstration of the rising tide of anti-Semitism we are seeing in this country and around the world. All of us in the public space—media and elected officials alike—have a moral responsibility to make sure our words and actions are combatting this hatred, not fueling the fire. That includes the President of the United States. We must never waver from this commitment to raise the level of discourse and call out bigotry and biases when we see them. White nationalism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia should never be normalized in our country.”
