Statement from Congressman Engel On Verizon Workers Agreement

Washington D.C.- Congressman Eliot L. Engel, a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, issued the following statement in response to Verizon’s agreement in principle with its 40,000 workers:

“I am pleased Verizon and union officials have come to an agreement that is beneficial to all sides, including the nearly 40,000 Verizon workers who have been on strike for the last 44 days. The terms agreed to in principle will improve standards of living for families, strengthen the middle-class, and improve job opportunities for American workers. Not to mention, it will also benefit the consumer and improve service. It’s a win all around.”
